The Clinicians


Dirk Elting, Ph.D., ABPP
is board certified in Behavioral Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He holds the American Psychological Association's Certificate of Proficiency in the Treatment of Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders and is certified as a psychological substance abuse specialist by the State of Hawaii. As Director of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Clinical Chief of Psychology, Dr. Elting oversaw the development of several key psychosocial treatment programs at Hawaii State Hospital, including the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, substance abuse, and family psychoeducation programs. In 2003, these efforts were recognized by the Hawaii Psychological Association, which gave him the Distinguished Service Award. He has published and given numerous professional talks on behavioral treatments for a wide range of problems in hospital and private settings for over a decade.

Kristin Keast, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist licensed in both Hawaii and California. As previous director of Clinical Operations for United Behavioral Health, Dr. Keast supervised and trained clinicians in numerous areas including depression, anxiety, and severe personality disorders. Following formal Dialectical Behavior Therapy training in 1998, Dr. Keast has been utilizing this approach to treat Borderline Personality Disorder and related disorders in both hospital and outpatient settings. She has published and given numerous professional talks on a variety of issues including Borderline Personality Disorder, Panic Disorder, domestic violence, and working with children with behavioral problems. She has been successfully treating individuals for a wide range of problems in hospital and private practice settings for over ten years.
